Job Title: Learning Support Assistant - Primary School

About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join a primary school in Oldham from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children across the primary age range, helping them to access learning, build confidence, and develop both socially and academically within a supportive school environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and SEN staff to provide targeted support for pupils with additional learning and emotional needs, both within the classroom and through small group or 1:1 interventions.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils within the classroom to help them engage in learning activities
- Provide tailored 1:1 or small group support where required
- Assist the class teacher with adapting activities to meet individual learning needs
- Encourage positive behaviour, confidence, and independence
- Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
- Monitor pupil progress and provide feedback where appropriate
Who We Are Looking For
We are keen to hear from candidates who are passionate about supporting children and making a positive difference within education. Previous experience is beneficial but not essential.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Primary school settings
- SEN or additional needs support
- Youth work or mentoring
- Nursery or childcare environments
- Care or support work

- A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not essential)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
- The ability to build positive relationships with children and staff
- Good teamwork and adaptability
- An understanding of behaviour support strategies and emotional needs
