Mechanical Maintenance Engineer - Part time - Contract
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. The ideal candidate will be a multiskilled engineer with proven experience in both planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance procedures, specifically focusing on CNC machinery and associated manufacturing equipment. This role is critical to ensuring optimal operational efficiency, minimizing downtime, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality across our production facilities.
- Execute comprehensive planned maintenance schedules on CNC machinery, including milling machines, lathes, grinding machines, and automated production equipment
- Conduct regular inspections, servicing, and calibration of mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, documentation, and service logs using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- Identify potential equipment failures before they occur through predictive maintenance techniques and condition monitoring
- Develop and update maintenance procedures and work instructions to improve efficiency and standardize best practices
- Schedule and coordinate maintenance activities to minimize disruption to production schedules
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and mechanical failures to restore operations with minimal downtime
- Diagnose mechanical faults using systematic troubleshooting methodologies and diagnostic equipment
- Perform emergency repairs on CNC machinery, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and mechanical drive systems
- Replace or repair defective components including bearings, seals, gears, belts, chains, and coupling assemblies
- Coordinate with production teams to prioritize repair work based on operational requirements
- Maintain an emergency response capability to address critical equipment failures outside normal working hours when required
