This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team. As the first point of contact for the Devizes Health Centre, the impression you create will be lasting. You will be the first to assist our patients with their enquiries, helping to create a positive experience for all visitors to the Health Centre.
This is a permanent position. The hours of work are 11.5 hours per week; 4.30pm - 6.30pm daily, Monday to Friday, with extended hours on a Tuesday 4.30pm - 8.00pm. A job share arrangement may be considered.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a receptionist role. General Practice and TPP SystmOne experience would be a bonus, but full training and induction will be given. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, be customer focussed and have practical experience of working with members of the public in a customer facing/customer service environment. You must be IT literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Any potential candidate must be able to work autonomously, and make decisions using own judgement and initiative. You will be organised, self-motivated, with a can-do approach to your work. The job is varied and you will be required to multi-task and be willing to take on addition responsibilities as the role evolves to meet the needs of the business.
The Devizes PCN recognises the importance of this role as our receptionists are the frontline of our service.
Main duties of the job
Duties and responsibilities will be varied from time to time, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels. Whilst not restricted to, these will include:
- A variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the Health Centre.
- Being the first point of contact for all visitors to the Health Centre; projecting a positive and friendly image, assisting patients and visitors with their enquiries in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
- Monitoring the practice appointments system and marking patients as arrived.
- Taking messages and passing on information.
- Computer data entry; recording information in patient records in accordance with PCN procedures.
- Sending pre and post appointment information, surveys and questionnaires, etc.
- Conducting daily fridge temperature record, oxygen cylinder, and resus trolley checks.
- Re-stocking consulting rooms as required.
- Providing clerical assistance to clinicians and PCN staff as required, including printing, photocopying and scanning.
- Keeping the reception area tidy and free from obstructions and clutter
- Locking up of the Health Centre at the end of your shift, and maintaining security in accordance with written protocol.
