Job Role:
We are looking for a skilled Vehicle & Plant Fitter to join our team, maintaining a diverse fleet of construction plant and commercial vehicles. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for ensuring our equipment is safe, compliant, and ready for work. You will spend your time between our well-equipped workshop and attending on-site breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities:
Servicing & Maintenance: Carry out scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance on a varied fleet (e.g., excavators, dumpers, telehandlers) and commercial vehicles (vans/HGVs).
Diagnostics: Identify mechanical, hydraulic & electric faults un=sing computer-based diagnostic tools.
Maintenance: Execute scheduled servicing & preventative maintenance to ensure fleet compliance & safety.
Repairs: Perform major & minor repairs, including engine overhauls, transmission work & welding/fabrication.
Inspections: Prepare vehicles for MOT testing & conduct safety inspections.
Documentation: Keep accurate records of all service & repair work.
Requirements & Qualifications:
Essential: Qualifications in Plant or & vehicle maintenance.
Experience: Proven track record working with hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems in a construction or plant hire environment.
Licensing: A valid UK driving licence is essential; HGV (Class 1 or 2) licence is desirable but no essential.
Soft Skills: Ability to work along side or current fitter & to work independently with minimal supervision & communicate clearly.
