Finance Operations Manager
We're looking for an experienced Finance Operations Manager to lead our transactional finance function, driving operational excellence, strong financial controls and continuous process improvement.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll manage the Accounts Payable team while overseeing finance operations, purchasing processes, billing administration and month-end support. You'll play a key role in improving systems, developing people and ensuring finance delivers an efficient, high-quality service across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach and develop the Accounts Payable team, setting clear objectives and performance standards.
- Manage day-to-day finance operations, ensuring efficient delivery of Accounts Payable, purchasing support and billing administration.
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimisation, automation and improved financial controls.
- Oversee supplier payments, invoice processing, reconciliations and purchasing compliance.
- Support month-end activities, ensuring transactional finance deadlines are met.
- Improve finance systems, workflows and operational processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the business, providing guidance on finance processes and controls.
- Act as the escalation point for operational finance issues and lead initiatives that improve service delivery.
About You
You'll be an experienced finance leader with a strong background in transactional finance or finance operations, combined with excellent people management skills.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience managing or leading Accounts Payable or Finance Operations teams.
- Strong knowledge of finance processes, controls and accounting principles.
- A track record of improving processes and implementing operational efficiencies.
- Experience using finance systems and advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to prioritise multiple workloads while leading and developing a high-performing team.
Desirable
- AAT qualified, part-qualified ACCA/CIMA or qualified by experience.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or a similar ERP system.
- Knowledge of procurement, purchasing controls or finance system implementation.
