Yard Shunter - Amazon EUK1
We are recruiting a team of Yard Shunters for the brand-new Amazon fulfilment centre rollout at Peterborough (EUK1). This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, established haulage partner from day one on a brand-new site contract, offering consistent shift patterns, zero long-distance driving, and long-term career stability.
Pay & Shift Summary
- Day Shift: £160.22 per shift (£560.80/wk averaging 3.5 shifts)
- Night Shift: £166.39 per shift (£582.38/wk averaging 3.5 shifts)
- Working Pattern: 4 on 4 off (average 3.5 days before overtime)
- Shift Times: Day Shift (07:30 - 18:00) | Night Shift (18:00 - 04:00)
- Overtime Rates: Extra hours at £23.97 - £24.89/hr | Extra full shifts paid at £240.34 (Days) or £249.59 (Nights).
- Loyalty Bonus: Earn an annual loyalty bonus starting at £500/yr after Year 1, ramping up to £2,000/yr after Year 4.
Start Date: Late September 2026 (Amazon WK 40 launch)
What You'll Be Doing
- Operate a yard tractor (shunting tug) to move trailers on-site
- Position trailers safely onto loading bays
- Carry out daily vehicle and trailer checks
- Work closely with the transport and warehouse management teams
- Strictly adhere to site health & safety procedures and report defects promptly
Requirements
- Valid Class 1 (C+E) licence (role is yard based primarily using a tug, but occasional movement using an HGV unit may be required)
- Previous shunting / trailer movement experience preferred
- Good understanding of health & safety
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-focused
- Must be able to pass a basic DBS check (required for site access)
