This job post will close on 30 October 2026, or quite possibly sooner if we receive a high volume of quality applications. Interviews will likely take place before closure of this job post so early applications are very much encouraged.
Pay:
A minimum of £28,000 per year (to start with, more for a suitably experienced candidate) plus 32 days paid holiday (which includes bank holidays) plus paid external training leading to accreditation and/or qualification for candidates after a probationary period of 6 months’ work at the firm has been successfully completed. This is an opportunity for aspiring solicitors in this area of work as time spent as a paralegal in this role can count towards Qualifying Work Experience.
Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual with a real interest in our areas of work to join our specialist mental health & mental capacity solicitors’ firm in Milton Keynes as either a paralegal, Legal Executive or Solicitor.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing legal advice, assistance, representation, and support to clients for Court of Protection proceedings and in respect of mental capacity law generally.
It is likely that some mental health law and practice will be encountered as part of your role at the firm, but the focus of this role will be on assisting the firm’s Principal with his Court of Protection (welfare) caseload.
On the job training will be available for those without extensive prior knowledge and experience of this area of law but who possess the aptitude and enthusiasm for this type of work.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Knowledge and experience of mental capacity law and practice and/or previous experience of working with individuals with mental health and/or mental capacity issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills especially with vulnerable individuals.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A strong attention to detail but also able to see the “big picture” for clients.
- A clean driving licence, own car & willingness to travel to attend Courts, or meetings with clients (a lot of this work is now office based via video conference, but travel to see clients in care homes, hospitals, their own home or in supported livings placements in the South East region happens on a weekly basis).
If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding role in Court of Protection and mental capacity law, we would love to hear from you.
If you are interested in this role, please send your CV and a covering email to the Practice Manager, Jade Cassidy, via [email protected].
Work Location: In person at the modern, spacious, and air-conditioned office overlooking Willen Lake in Milton Keynes.
