We are looking for a full time Cook for our lovely care home. Experienced in cooking for 44 residents is preferred, however, would consider training an enthusiastic individual. Hours: full time which will include every other weekend. Shifts are from 8am to 6PM with an hour's lunch. DBS paid-for.
Will work alternate shifts to 1-2 other cooks, and alongside KPs.
Purpose:
To ensure the delivery of a choice of high quality foods, through assisting in the management of the kitchen, staff, budgets and the ordering of products.
Key Tasks:
- To deliver a high standard and good quality choices of food.
- To actively contribute in the preparation, cooking of food and the cleaning of the kitchen area.
- To discuss with residents, on a regular basis, their menu choices and gain feedback to incorporate into their meals. Ensure that all meetings are recorded in the residents’ file notes.
- To assist in providing a choice of menus which are nutritionally-balanced and cater for individuals needs and preferences.
- To ensure the food service is compliant with the Hazard, Analysis and Critical Control Points. Ensuring that all temperatures are recorded as recommended.
- To ensure that after each meal, samples of food are retained in sample pots in chilled form for the required period.
- To assist team colleagues with arranging for regular deep cleans, at least bi monthly, ensure all fridges and freezers are defrosted on a regular basis and that all food has appropriate opening dates and best before dates on.
- To minimise wastage, through forward-planning.
- To work within budgets set out by the Home Manager.
- To assist in sourcing and ordering the food supplies to ensure the home does not run out of foods required.
