Welsh Speaking Teaching Assistant (Afternoons) – Part-Time
Location: Penmaenmawr, Conwy
Hours: 12.5 hours per week (2.5 hours per day), Monday to Friday
Contract: Fixed Term – September 2026 to July 2027
Salary: £14.24 per hour
We are currently recruiting for a Welsh Speaking Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in Penmaenmawr from September 2026 until July 2027.
This is a part-time afternoon role, working 2.5 hours per day, Monday to Friday (12.5 hours per week), making it an ideal opportunity for someone looking for school-friendly hours.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher to support pupils' learning and development during afternoon sessions. You will help create a positive and engaging learning environment while providing support to individual pupils and small groups.
Responsibilities
- Support pupils during afternoon classroom sessions.
- Assist the class teacher with delivering engaging learning activities.
- Work with individual pupils and small groups to support their progress.
- Encourage positive behaviour and active participation.
- Help maintain a safe, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
- Follow the school's safeguarding, behaviour and health & safety policies.
Requirements
- Fluent Welsh speaker (essential).
- Previous experience working with children in a school, nursery or similar setting is desirable.
- A caring, patient and enthusiastic approach.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- The right to work in the UK.
