Job Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Specialist Electronic Notetaker to cover a session at the University of West London, this academic term, every Thursday from 2pm until 5pm, from the 12th February.
We may accept a qualified latecomer as we can place temporary cover for the first sessions.
Pay is £24.00ph.
Candidates will have a relevant qualification (see below), excellent English, and previous experience in supporting disabled people in either higher education or employment settings. We commit to paying above industry average rates, and in return we ask for reliability, independence and a professional approach. Please note that we require an annual DBS check before we can issue any contract for work.
This is an introductory role which will help us become familiar with your expertise and open opportunities for further specialist notetaking roles in London, in either undergraduate or postgraduate contexts.
This role may include elements of practical support as part of the overall service (for example, assisting the student to and from classrooms).
Experience and Qualifications
- Please note we require a specialist notetaking qualification for this role (e.g. OCN L3 or other as required by the DSA), and an annual DBS check.
- Previous experience notetaking for people with specific learning needs or physical disabilities is needed, one year minimum is desirable.
- An undergraduate degree is required.
- You will need to bring your own laptop with the ability to edit and save MS Word documents, work on Google Docs and other documents as required, and create PDFs.
Skills and Requirements
- Proven experience in any NMH support is highly desirable.
- Excellent timekeeping and communication skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and work independently.
- Strong organisational skills and a problem solving attitude for situational awareness and social contexts.
- A compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve the quality of their experience in education or employment.
- We will need a copy of any relevant certifications.
