Clinical Negligence Solicitor – Minimum 2 years PQE. We are open to applications from Chartered Legal Executives and experienced Clinical Negligence Litigators
An opportunity to help build a established and growing department
Rochdale | Hybrid & Flexible Working | Competitive Salary + Performance Bonus
Are you an experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor looking for more than simply inheriting another caseload?
At ASL Solicitors, we are looking for a experienced Clinical Negligence lawyer who wants the autonomy to run quality cases, work directly with the firm's senior management and play a significant role in the future development of our Clinical Negligence practice.
This is not a cold-start role and it is not a high-volume fee-earning position.
We already have an established Clinical Negligence practice, an existing caseload ready to inherit and a regular flow of new enquiries. Our work includes a variety of cases from more straightforward matters through to complex, high-value litigation.
We are now looking for the right person to help us take the department to its next stage.
The Opportunity
You will take ownership of an established claimant Clinical Negligence caseload and have the freedom expected of an experienced lawyer.
Your work will include:
- Delayed diagnosis and misdiagnosis claims
- Surgical negligence
- Hospital and GP negligence
- Dental negligence
- Treatment and medication errors
- Complex and high-value claims
- Multi-track litigation – the cases aren’t yet litigated?
You will manage cases from initial assessment through investigation, expert evidence, Letter of Claim, negotiations, litigation and settlement or trial.
You will have access to administrative support and will work directly with the firm's senior management, without unnecessary layers of management or bureaucracy.
More Than a Caseload
What makes this opportunity different is the scope of the role.
We are not simply looking for somebody to maintain an existing caseload.
We want an experienced lawyer who can help us build something.
Depending upon your experience and ambitions, you will have the opportunity to contribute to:
- The strategic development of the Clinical Negligence department
- Case selection and supervision of new enquiries
- Developing systems and best practice
- Training and mentoring junior team members
- Building relationships with experts, counsel and other professionals
- Developing new sources of work
- Recruitment as the department grows
- The longer-term direction of the practice
For the right individual, there is genuine scope to develop into a departmental leadership role as the practice continues to grow.
What ASL Offers
An established caseload from day one
You will not be expected to build a caseload from scratch.
Regular new enquiries
The firm already has established enquiry and case-allocation processes.
Quality over volume
We are interested in properly progressing good cases, not creating an unrealistic high-volume environment.
Real autonomy
We are looking for a senior lawyer whom we can trust to take ownership of their work.
Direct access to decision-makers
You will work closely with the firm's directors and senior management, allowing decisions to be made quickly.
Hybrid and flexible working
We recognise that experienced lawyers value flexibility and trust.
Competitive remuneration and performance bonus
We are prepared to offer a strong package to secure the right individual, with the opportunity to benefit financially from exceptional performance and departmental growth.
A genuine opportunity to progress
As the department develops, we want the successful candidate to develop with it.
Who Are We Looking For?
You may currently be a Senior Solicitor, Associate, Legal Executive or experienced Clinical Negligence Litigator who feels ready for greater responsibility.
You should ideally have:
- Strong Claimant Clinical Negligence experience
- The ability to independently manage cases from inception to conclusion
- Experience of litigated and multi-track matters
- Confidence dealing with medical experts, counsel and complex evidence
- Strong knowledge of liability, causation and quantum
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- High standards of client care
- Sound commercial judgement
- The confidence to make decisions and take ownership of cases
Most importantly, we are looking for somebody who is ambitious about the department as well as their own caseload.
Why ASL Solicitors?
There are plenty of Clinical Negligence roles where an experienced solicitor can join a large team, inherit a billing target and become another fee earner within an established structure.
This opportunity is different.
At ASL Solicitors, you will have an existing platform to work from, but also the freedom to influence what comes next.
You will have:
An existing caseload.
New work coming into the department.
Direct access to senior management.
Autonomy over your cases.
Support to do the job properly.
And the opportunity to help build the department around you.
If you are an experienced Clinical Negligence lawyer who feels you have reached the point where you want greater autonomy, recognition and influence over the direction of a practice, we would particularly like to speak to you.
Interested?
We recognise that many of the strongest candidates will not be actively looking for a new role.
For that reason, informal and completely confidential discussions are welcomed before any formal application.
