Hours: Full‑time (30 hours: 24 hands‑on + 6 supernumerary)
Job Overview
Abbotsford House is a boutique, family‑run care home set within a mansion house and mature gardens. We are seeking an experienced and organised Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping and ancillary team. This role combines 24 hours of hands‑on housekeeping with 6 hours supernumerary time for ordering, inspections and rota support. The ideal candidate will have strong care‑home housekeeping experience, with hotel or hospitality experience considered an advantage. You will help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment for our residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Hands‑on housekeeping duties for 24 hours per week to maintain a warm, homely and meticulously clean environment 6 hours supernumerary time for ordering domestic supplies, PPE, inspections and administrative tasks.
- Supervise and support the ancillary team, including carrying out staff supervisions. Assist the Manager with ancillary rota planning.
- Maintain existing cleaning schedules and ensure standards are consistently met.
- Conduct regular housekeeping and environmental inspections
- Ensure compliance with infection‑control, health and safety regulations
- Manage stock levels and ensure timely replenishment of supplies
Qualifications
- Experience in care‑home housekeeping (essential)
- Strong leadership and team‑management skills
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques and safety protocols relevant to care‑home settings
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills
- Hotel or hospitality housekeeping experience is beneficial
