Overview
We are seeking a skilled HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) Mechanic to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and inspecting our fleet of heavy vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our operations running smoothly and efficiently.
Duties
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on heavy vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension systems
- Conduct electrical troubleshooting and repairs using schematics and electrical experience
- Perform fabrication, welding, soldering, and assembly work as needed for custom repairs or modifications
- Use hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment to carry out maintenance tasks with precision
- Inspect equipment such as excavators and forklifts to identify faults and perform necessary repairs or maintenance
- Follow schematics and technical manuals to ensure accurate repairs and installations
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities for compliance and tracking
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in heavy vehicle maintenance
- Proficiency in fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical systems, and schematics interpretation
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for assembly and repair tasks
- Experience with equipment such as excavators and forklifts is highly desirable
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to health and safety regulations
- Excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members and clients
- Capable of troubleshooting electrical issues with a clear understanding of wiring diagrams and schematics
