We are looking for a committed Risk and Compliance Officer join our team, to support the Head of Risk and Compliance and the wider business with all compliance and regulatory operations, measures and reporting alongside wider quality assurance activities. This is a full-time role, and we offer hybrid working with a minimum of 3 days to be worked in our Leeds City Centre office following induction period.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support in managing regulatory and other relevant relationships
- Support in the management of all aspects of risk and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct regular audits, quality assurance and risk assessments, designing and implementing initiatives to support adherence to LCU policies and continuing adherence to new legislation and regulation.
- Liaison with LCU’s SMT and Leadership Teams to develop wider understanding of the changing regulatory environment impact.
- Manage and develop controls to mitigate risk across the business.
- Support in maintaining the 'fit and proper person’ certification requirements under the FCA Certified Persons regime and ensure returns and certification for other senior personnel.
- Support the Head of risk and Compliance in developing and delivering the Risk Management Framework.
- Support in the design, delivery and ongoing control of all compliance monitoring systems.
- Provide regulatory updates including the associated business impact as required.
- Updating of the risk register and associated activities.
- Support in audit design, process and output operations.
- Ownership of the complaints process, liaising with relevant individuals to ensure timely analysis and resolution.
- Responsibility for FCA & PRA reporting and returns.
- Oversight and control of LCU polices and rulebook.
- Control of board and ARC meetings, minutes, papers, and actions
- Support in providing role-related training to the business.
Person Specifications:
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualification in a relevant area of risk, compliance or QA is desirable.
- Previous experience in a risk, compliance or quality assurance role in a regulated environment is essential.
- Experience in a financial services organisation is advantageous.
Qualities and Attitude:
- Comfortable building and maintaining effective relationships across every level of an organisation.
- Organised and structured with an excellent attention to detail.
- Solid documentation skills and critical thinking that show clarity and thought.
- Excellent analytical skills showcased by strong requirements gathering, problem solving and data presentation that is easily interpreted by a range of audiences.
- An ability to communicate effectively with an understanding of how to proactively work cross functionally and with a diverse group of people.
- Self-motivated with a passion for getting the job done.
- Able to balance support, challenge and coaching to develop a high-performance culture across the organisation when handling risk and compliance.
