Bookkeeper & Office Manager (Part Time)
Bishops 4x4 is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper & Office Manager to join our friendly team at our busy Land Rover and Jaguar specialist workshop in Yaxley, Peterborough.
This is a varied role at the heart of the business. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and administration that keeps the workshop running smoothly, working closely with the directors, customers, suppliers and our external accountants.
We're looking for someone who enjoys being organised, takes pride in accuracy and is happy to work independently while becoming an important part of a close-knit team. This role would particularly suit someone returning to work, looking to reduce their hours, or seeking a long-term part-time position where they can make a real difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining accurate accounting records using Xero.
- Managing the purchase and sales ledgers.
- Raising customer invoices and credit notes.
- Reconciling bank accounts and company credit cards.
- Processing supplier invoices, expenses and payments.
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
- Running the monthly payroll and administering the workplace pension scheme.
- Liaising with HMRC and our external accountants when required.
- Assisting with month-end accounting and providing information for management reporting.
- Maintaining company compliance records, including Health & Safety, Fire Safety and other statutory documentation.
- Managing general office administration and maintaining both electronic and paper records.
- Answering the telephone and assisting customers and suppliers as required.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- AAT Level 3, IAB Level 3 or an equivalent bookkeeping qualification.
- At least ten years' bookkeeping or accounts administration experience.
- Experience using Xero (or another modern cloud accounting package, with training provided where required).
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
- The confidence to manage your own workload and work with minimal supervision.
- A friendly and professional manner when dealing with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
Experience within the motor trade or a vehicle workshop would be advantageous but is not essential.

- Approximately 30 hours per week, with flexibility over how those hours are worked for the right candidate.
