Tanvis Indian Cuisine is a well-established Indian restaurant in Wakefield, proudly rated 4.9 stars with 1,000+ Google reviews. As we expand into York, we are looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to help us build a strong, consistent and profitable operation across both locations.
The Role
This is a hands-on project-based role for someone with strong experience in centralised kitchen operations, food preparation and multi-site production.
You will work closely with the owners, chefs and restaurant management team to create a reliable production system that improves consistency, food quality, efficiency and profitability across our existing and future branches.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and develop a centralised kitchen and production model capable of supporting multiple branches.
- Create efficient prep and production plans based on restaurant demand, sales forecasts and menu requirements.
- Establish standardised recipes, preparation methods, portion sizes and production specifications.
- Ensure consistency of taste, presentation and portion control across all locations.
- Identify which items can be prepared centrally and establish efficient production and distribution processes.
- Develop production schedules, batch sizes and par levels to reduce unnecessary preparation and stock holding.
- Monitor and improve food costs, gross profit and ingredient usage.
- Introduce effective waste reduction and waste monitoring procedures.
- Establish robust inventory, stock rotation and stock control systems.
- Monitor supplier deliveries, ingredient quality and purchasing requirements.
- Work with chefs to improve kitchen workflows, preparation efficiency and productivity.
- Create practical SOPs and production guidelines that can be easily followed by kitchen teams at new branches.
- Support the York branch opening by establishing its kitchen preparation, production and supply requirements.
- Train and mentor chefs and kitchen staff on standardised preparation and production methods.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical improvements.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, health & safety and HACCP compliance.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Production Chef, Head Chef or similar senior kitchen role.
- Strong practical experience in a centralised/production kitchen environment.
- Experience planning food preparation and production for multiple restaurants or sites.
- Strong understanding of food costing, portion control and GP management.
- Experience with stock management, inventory control and waste reduction.
- Strong knowledge of recipe standardisation and maintaining consistency across locations.
- Highly organised, commercially aware and process-driven.
- A hands-on leader who can work with chefs and kitchen teams at all levels.
- Experience supporting a new restaurant opening or kitchen setup would be highly desirable.
Contract
Duration: 2–3 months
Hours: 20 hours per week
Location: Wakefield, with support for the York expansion
Pay: £13–£15 per hour, depending on experience
