Personal Care Assistant – Day Shifts
£14.74 per hour | Average 36 hours per week | Permanent
Moulton, Northampton
We are looking for a kind, dependable Personal Care Assistant to join a small, established team supporting a 44-year-old man with complex health needs in his own home.
This is a rewarding home-based position—not a domiciliary-care role involving short visits or travelling between multiple clients. Care is provided on a 2-to-1 basis, so you will work alongside another trained Care Assistant throughout the shift.
The role combines personal and clinical care with practical and social support, enabling the individual to continue working, spend time with his family and access the community.
No previous complex-care experience is required. Full paid training, competency assessments and supported shadow shifts are provided, including training in tracheostomy care, ventilation, medication and specialist equipment.
Hours and rota
* 12-hour day shifts: 7:30 am–7:30 pm
* Average of 36 hours per week
* Two shifts one week and four shifts the following week
* Predictable, repeating rota
* Flexibility to cover colleagues’ sickness and annual leave is a requirement of the role
What the role involves
* Providing attentive support as part of a 2-to-1 care team
* Personal care and hygiene
* Monitoring health and wellbeing
* Tracheostomy and ventilator care following full training
* Medication administration following training
* Using mobility and specialist medical equipment
* Supporting attendance at work
* Assisting with social activities and access to the community
* Maintaining accurate care records
* Working closely with the individual, his family and other members of the care team
Who we are looking for
Previous care experience is welcomed but is not essential. Attitude, reliability and a genuine desire to provide high-quality support are equally important.
The successful applicant must be:
* Kind, patient and respectful
* Dependable and punctual
* Comfortable providing personal care
* Willing to learn specialist clinical-care skills
* Able to work effectively alongside another Care Assistant
* Flexible and available to provide additional cover for sickness and annual leave when required
* Comfortable around dogs and cats
* Able to follow care plans and maintain accurate records
* Eligible to work in the UK
* The holder of a valid UK manual driving licence
What we offer
* £14.74 per hour
* Full paid induction and specialist training
* Paid shadow shifts
* Paid annual leave
* Workplace pension
* A stable and predictable repeating rota
* Support from an experienced 2-to-1 care team
* One consistent place of work
* No travelling between different care clients
* The opportunity to develop valuable complex-care skills
* A friendly and supportive home environment
Employment is subject to satisfactory references, right-to-work checks and the required pre-employment checks.
