Finishing Department Operative
About the Role
Hymec Aerospace is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Finishing Department Operative to join our manufacturing team.
Working with high-end precision components for the aerospace and automotive industries, you will be responsible for the final finishing stages of our products, ensuring every component meets our high standards for quality, appearance and accuracy.
This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, precision and pride in your work are essential. It's an excellent opportunity for someone with a manufacturing or engineering background to develop their skills within a professional precision engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deburr precision-machined components, removing sharp edges and imperfections
- Finish components to the required specification and quality standard
- Carry out rumble finishing and polishing of high-end components
- Use a range of hand tools and power tools safely and effectively
- Inspect finished components for defects and ensure they meet required standards
- Work to drawings, specifications and customer requirements
- Carry out basic measurements and checks where required
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy and consistency across finished parts
- Keep the finishing and production areas clean, organised and safe
- Work closely with other members of the manufacturing team to achieve production requirements
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Detail-oriented with a strong eye for quality
- Ideally experienced in deburring, polishing, rumble finishing or component finishing
- Previous experience within aerospace, automotive, precision engineering or manufacturing would be an advantage but training will be provided for the right person
- Confident using hand tools and power tools
- Comfortable working with small, high-value precision components
- Able to follow instructions, drawings and specifications
- Reliable, hardworking and committed to producing a high standard of work
- Able to work independently while also being a strong team player
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Keen to learn and develop new skills
Previous finishing experience is desirable, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
What We Offer
- £13.00–£14.50 per hour, depending on experience
- Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm
- Overtime available when required
