About the role:
Less Common Metals is looking for a proactive and highly organised HR & Recruitment Assistant to support a busy HR function within a fast‑paced industrial environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, works well with operational teams, and is confident handling both HR administration and recruitment coordination.
You’ll play a key role in keeping day‑to‑day HR activity running smoothly, supporting recruitment across the site, and acting as a trusted first point of contact for employees and managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support end‑to‑end recruitment across shop floor, technical and support roles
- Complete right‑to‑work checks, references, offers and contract documentation
- Coordinate onboarding and inductions, ensuring training, compliance and safety requirements are met
- Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files and HR system data
- Support absence management, probation reviews, performance processes and disciplinaries
- Act as the first point of contact for HR queries from employees and managers
- Provide administrative and diary support to the HR Manager
- Work closely with production teams to support shift‑based recruitment and operational staffing needs
Skills, Experience & Requirements
- CIPD Level 3 qualified or currently working towards
- Previous experience in an HR or recruitment role, ideally in an industrial, manufacturing or engineering environment
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Confident communicator with the ability to interact at all levels of the business
- High attention to detail and accuracy in administration and data management
- Experience using HR systems (HRIS) and applicant tracking systems
- Basic understanding of UK employment law (desirable)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
- Able to work independently and use initiative in a fast‑paced environment
- Professional, discreet and comfortable handling sensitive information
