Cafe Manager – Role Profile
The Heaton Cooper Studio is a successful, Independent art gallery, which has grown to become one of the Lake District’s most well-loved visitor destinations. In 2017 we opened Mathilde’s s café / restaurant, which has since developed a reputation for high-quality, beautifully presented, using seasonal, locally sourced produce, and taking inspiration from the Heaton Cooper artists and their Cumbrian and Norwegian heritage, offering an exciting daytime menu.
We’re looking for an ambitious manager to lead our Front of House team at Mathilde’s working closely with the Managing director and Head chef and be a key member of the management team. You will be responsible for delivering the business targets across sales, stock, profitability, team management & training, food hygiene and health & safety.
The role reports into the Managing Director, and the person will be responsible for leading, managing and inspiring a team to run a 7-days a week daytime business (you will work 5-days /week in daytime hours only).
About You
- You’ll have a strong hospitality background with a genuine passion for the catering/hospitality industry.
- Able to embrace the responsibility of being accountable for the operation, with an understanding of, and interest, in the financial performance of the business.
- Experience of line management is essential as you will be managing an energetic, and hard-working team.
- Barista experience would be ideal but not essential.
- Experience of managing health & safety in a catering environment, completing risk assessments, and ensuring your team are well trained, understand safety procedures and work safely at all times
- You will have strong communication skills and organisational skills.
- A sense of humour and a positive attitude to face into day-to-day problems. these are essential.
