Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

About the Role: We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist SEN school in St Austell. The successful candidate will provide vital support to children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and complex medical needs, including those who are wheelchair-bound and have conditions such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other physical and cognitive disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small group support to children with PMLD, ensuring their safety, comfort, and engagement throughout the school day
- Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and tailored learning activities under the guidance of teachers and therapists.
- Assist with personal care routines, including feeding, toileting, and mobility support, adhering strictly to health and safety protocols.
- Support children’s social, emotional, and communication development using appropriate strategies and resources.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and complex medical needs preferred.
- Understanding of conditions such as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, and other physical disabilities.
- Experience supporting children who are wheelchair-bound and with medical equipment.
- Relevant SEN or care qualifications are desirable (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning, or equivalent).
