Freelance Social Media Content Creator
Edinburgh | Hospitality |
We’re looking for a creative freelance Social Media Content Creator to help produce fresh, engaging content for independent cafés, restaurants and hospitality businesses across Edinburgh.
This role would suit someone who genuinely enjoys creating content for Instagram and TikTok and has a strong eye for what makes food, drinks, people and hospitality spaces look great on camera.
You do not need years of professional social media experience. We’re much more interested in creativity, reliability, confidence using a phone or camera, and whether you naturally understand what makes good social content.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll visit hospitality venues around Edinburgh and create a bank of photo and video content that can be used across Instagram and TikTok.
This could include:
- Filming short-form video for Reels and TikTok
- Taking attractive food, drink and venue photography
- Capturing behind-the-scenes content
- Filming staff, chefs and baristas at work
- Creating natural, personality-led content
- Following a monthly content brief and shot list
- Spotting additional content opportunities while on site
- Keeping up with relevant Instagram and TikTok trends
- Uploading and organising content after each shoot
Depending on your skills and interests, there may also be opportunities to help with:
- Editing Reels and TikToks
- Writing captions
- Scheduling content
- Posting to Instagram and TikTok
- Helping manage monthly content calendars
Who we’re looking for
You might already work in social media, photography or content creation — but you don’t have to.
You could equally be a student, aspiring photographer, TikTok creator or simply someone who has a very good eye for social content.
What matters most is that you:
- Have a strong visual eye
- Understand what looks good on Instagram and TikTok
- Are confident filming short-form vertical video
- Can take attractive photos using a phone or camera
- Have an interest in food, cafés, restaurants and hospitality
- Are comfortable working independently
- Are reliable and organised
- Can follow a brief while still bringing your own creative ideas
- Understand current social media trends
- Are comfortable approaching staff and directing simple shots when required
Experience with CapCut, Canva, Lightroom or similar editing tools would be useful but is not essential.
Pay
£15–£20 per hour depending on experience and responsibilities.
Approximately:
- £15–£17 per hour for content capture and photography/video creation
- £18–£20 per hour if you can also edit, prepare and help schedule/post content
This is a freelance role with flexible hours.
Most content shoots will take approximately 1.5–2 hours per venue, with additional editing or social media work available depending on the client and your skills.
Location
The role is primarily based across Edinburgh, so you’ll need to be able to travel independently between client venues.
