To support the manager in the day-to-day running of the nursery, ensuring that it is operating to the highest professional level., as well as supporting with admin tasks. To support staff in offering planned activities, a wide range of learning opportunities and daily routines that promote all areas of the children’s development in a safe, stimulating, happy and caring environment, in accordance with the Nurseries policies, and the statutory requirements.
Duties include: -
- Supporting the Nursery Manager in the operation of the nursery
- To manage the nursery in the managers absence, and to be able to work as part of a management team, to deliver the best possible outcomes for children
- To work on your own initiative and to be motivated and able to lead and motivate the team
- Ensuring that the highest standards are maintained including an all-inclusive environment that values diversity and promotes equal and open opportunities for all children and adults
- Ensuring that all policies and procedures are understood, implemented, and adhered to by all staff at all times; including OFSTED legal requirements, and compliance at all times, as well as all legislation in relation to special educational needs, safeguarding, health and safety
- Developing and promoting positive partnerships working with parents/carers and all other agencies/professionals that work alongside the setting and families and ensuring effective communication between parents/carers, and colleagues
- Show rounds of prospective parents
- Coaching and mentoring the staff team
Requirements:
- Hold at least a level 3 minimum qualification
- Have 3 years childcare experience
- Experience within an Early Years leadership role (ideally as a Deputy Manager, Assistant Manager, Third in Charge or similar)
- Has extensive knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding and Child Protection and be confident to support, supervise and manage a staff team.
- Have real passion, motivation and drive for working with, and educating, children through a child-led and ‘learning through play’ approach
- Professionalism, effective team work, high quality practice, flexibility and the promotion of equality and diversity
- Confident decision maker, with previous experience providing support and leadership to others to enable staff in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities
