Digital Art and Video Game Design Teacher (Hourly Rate Part-Time)
Hours: 3-5 hours per week
Salary: £15-25 per hour
Bonus: Additional bonus for good performance
Location: 3–5 hours in-school (various locations in West London, North East London) and remaining hours off-site
Contract: Term-Based (Autumn Term, Spring Term & Summer Term)
Overview
We are seeking a passionate and creative Digital Art and Video Game Design Teacher to introduce children to the world of digital learning in a healthy, balanced, and inspiring way. The role is about more than teaching technical skills — it’s about guiding young learners to explore digital art, animation, and game design as positive tools for creativity, problem-solving, and self-expression. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical knowledge with a commitment to nurturing digital wellbeing, encouraging teamwork, and helping children engage with technology thoughtfully and responsibly.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons in digital art and video game design tailored for children.
- Teach creative skills such as digital drawing, character design, storytelling, animation, and world-building.
- Introduce children to safe, age-appropriate uses of design tools and platforms (e.g., Photoshop, Blender, Unity, or similar).
- Foster healthy digital habits, ensuring students understand balance, online safety, and positive screen use.
- Encourage teamwork, collaboration, and problem-solving through group projects and game design challenges.
- Celebrate student creativity through showcases, presentations, or mini-exhibitions.
- Provide constructive, encouraging feedback to build confidence and skills.
- Collaborate with other educators to integrate digital art into broader creative learning projects.
Skills & Experience
- Strong knowledge of digital art, design software, and (ideally) game design tools.
- Passion for helping children explore technology as a positive creative outlet.
- Excellent communication skills to make complex concepts fun and accessible.
- Patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm for working with different age groups and learning styles.
- Organisational skills to manage lessons, resources, and projects effectively.
- A degree in Digital Art, Game Design, Animation, Education, or a related subject is preferred but not essential.
- Previous teaching or workshop experience with children is highly advantageous.
