Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Forklift/Plant Service Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and servicing a range of plant equipment, including forklifts and excavators. This role requires a strong mechanical and electrical background, with the ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service. The position offers an opportunity to utilise a diverse set of technical skills in a dynamic industrial environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on forklifts, excavators, and other plant machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Perform repairs and troubleshooting on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems using hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed, including welding and soldering tasks.
- Read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and manuals to diagnose issues accurately.
- Assemble new equipment or components following technical specifications.
- Utilise welding, electrical experience, and mechanical knowledge to resolve complex technical problems.
- Maintain detailed records of service activities, repairs, and inspections in accordance with company procedures.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns promptly and professionally.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to health and safety regulations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in fabrication, welding, soldering, electrical work, or mechanical maintenance within an industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of schematics and technical drawings related to plant machinery.
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and assembly techniques.
- Experience in equipment repair for forklifts, excavators, or similar heavy machinery.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on troubleshooting complex mechanical or electrical issues.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping.
- Customer service orientation with professional communication skills.
- Relevant certifications or qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering are desirable but not essential. Pay: £26,376.34-£53,715.02 per year
