Hours: We have a wonderful opportunity for 30 hours per week over 5 days per week (including an alternate Saturday or Sunday) - 9am - 5pm.

We have an excellent career opportunity for the role of Activities Coordinator to join our team here at Kirklands Care based at our wonderful Highfield House Care Home in Whitehaven.
We’re looking for a compassionate and motivated person to work alongside our current Activities Coordinators as part of a team who can help our residents maintain positive physical, mental, and emotional well-being by providing opportunities for social interaction and engagement, creating a vibrant community atmosphere and enhancing the overall quality of life for the wonderful people who live at Highfield House.

Highfield House is a nursing and care home located in the beautiful coastal town of Whitehaven. Our highly qualified, experienced and compassionate team are ready and waiting to welcome you to the newest addition to the Kirklands family.

As the first facility in the Kirklands care group to also offer nursing care, you’ll quickly become part of a wonderful family of residents, and staff who can provide the support you need to live comfortably and in dignity with us.
Highfield House provides residential care for up to 67 people of mixed physical and cognitive ability, as well as nursing care for a range of needs, including Dementia, Parkinson’s disease and mental health issues.

Job Overview
- To develop and plan programmes, outings and events, staffing the events and overseeing the implementation of activities. Ensure the programme reflects the wishes and preferences of the current population of the organisation
- To support and enable service users to access social networks and maintain personal interests in accordance with best practice, agreed standards, legislation and within the financial budget
- To maintain skills at a current level and to undertake such training and development as required, from time-to-time, to maintain and progress knowledge
Responsibilities
- Organise and plan activity programmes reflecting service users’ preferences
- Produce newsletters to inform service users and their relatives/friends about what is going on
- Support service users to access the internet and other communication methods such as letter writing, Skype and FaceTime
- Plan events within allocated budget
- Ensure service users are at the heart of events and programmes to enhance their wellbeing
- Be responsible for promoting and protecting the welfare of those individuals supported by the service
