Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated HGV Class 1 Driver Tramper to join our logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a straight frame trailer on long-distance journeys across multiple regions, ensuring timely and safe deliveries to various locations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work independently while maintaining high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service. As a key player in our transportation network, you will help us deliver excellence on every mile.
Duties
- Safely operate an HGV Class 1 truck on long-haul routes, including tramper assignments that involve extended periods away from home. On nights out, we pay £25 per night and issue you with a Snap token (£25 food voucher)
- Load and unload cargo with precision, ensuring secure fastening and adherence to safety protocols
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections before and after each trip to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with legal standards
- Plan efficient routes using GPS and logistical software to optimise delivery schedules and reduce delays
- Maintain accurate documentation of deliveries, mileage logs, and vehicle inspections in accordance with company policies
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding schedules, delays, or issues encountered during transit
- Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies to promote a safe working environment
Qualifications
- Valid HGV Class 1 (C+E) driving license with up-to-date CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) certification
- Proven experience in commercial driving, particularly with General Haulage
- Delivery driver experience with a focus on long-distance or tramper routes preferred
- Knowledge of transportation safety standards and vehicle maintenance procedures
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as securing loads and conducting vehicle inspections
- Strong navigation skills
- Excellent communication skills and a professional attitude
