About this role
We are a well-established UPVC and glazing company specialising in windows, doors, french doors, and composite doors in the new build industry. Supporting UK construction with operating centers in the South and the North, we are known for quality products and excellent customer service.
We are looking for a highly organised and commercially aware Estimator to join our growing Tendering Team in Pontypool.
This is a key role responsible for producing accurate, timely quotations based on architectural drawings and specifications provided by clients and contractors. You will play a vital part in converting opportunities into secured work, working closely with the Tender Project Manager and wider business functions.
A critical part of this role is operating within a structured check and balance process, ensuring all tenders are independently verified before submission to maintain accuracy, consistency, and commercial integrity.
Working Hours
Monday to Thursday 08.00 - 16.00
Friday 09:00 - 13:00
Flexibility may be required depending on operational needs.
What you’ll be doing:
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and tender documentation provided by clients and contractors
- Take full ownership of tenders from initial enquiry through to draft submission
· Prepare detailed and accurate quotations using Excel and Window Designer software
· Participate in a structured peer review process via check and balance procedures
· Manage revisions to drawings and specifications throughout the tender lifecycle and trigger transactional restrictions via finance team as applicable
· Maintain clear records of submissions, revisions, and commercial decisions
· Support post-tender queries where required
· Ensure seamless handover of successful tenders to the Finance team for transactional launch within the business
What we’re looking for:
· Experience in an estimating, pricing, or tendering role (construction, windows/doors, or similar industry preferred)
· Strong capability in Excel (formulas, structured pricing models)
· Ability to interpret architectural drawings and technical specifications
· Methodical and detail-focused
· Strong sense of accountability and ownership
· Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines
· Ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously without compromising accuracy
Desirable Extras:
· Experience using Window Designer or similar industry software
· Knowledge of the construction industry and building regulations
· Understanding of technical drawings and specifications
· Understanding of upvc profile systems
· Commercial awareness and understanding of margins and cost control
