Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Night Care Assistant to provide high-quality care within a care home setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting residents during night shifts, ensuring their safety, comfort, and well-being. This role offers an opportunity to utilise leadership skills and make a positive difference in the lives of our residents through compassionate and professional care.
We work on a 2 week rota and this position is for 30 hours one week, 40 hours another week and does include weekend working.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the night-time routine for residents, ensuring their safety and comfort throughout the shift
- Supervise and support care staff, providing guidance and leadership during night hours
- Assist residents with personal care needs, including mobility, medication administration, and hygiene
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, recognising any changes or concerns and reporting them appropriately
- Implement individualised care plans in accordance with organisational policies
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided and incidents occurring during the shift
- Communicate effectively with day staff to ensure seamless handovers and continuity of care
- Respond promptly to emergencies or urgent situations, following established protocols
- Support residents’ emotional needs through compassionate interaction and reassurance
Experience
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience within a care home or senior care environment is essential
- Proven experience in caring for the elderly and those with dementia
- Knowledge of care planning processes and ability to implement personalised care strategies
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with residents, families, and team members
- Competence in IT systems used for record keeping and reporting within healthcare settings
