An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Supply Chain Department as a full-time Senior Buyer, at Innovia Films, Wigton.
Innovia Films are a leading global manufacturer of Biaxially Oriented Polypropylene (BOPP) films, supplying highly differentiated speciality products into the packaging, labels, tobacco overwrap and securities markets.
What is this role?
We are looking for a Senior Buyer to join our Procurement team. Reporting to the Planning & Procurement Manager, the successful candidate will manage the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, ensuring goods and services are sourced effectively, delivering best value across designated spend categories while maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
The responsibilities of the role will include:
- Procuring goods and services that deliver optimum value, considering total cost of ownership rather than solely upfront purchase price. This includes servicing, maintenance, operating costs, end-of-life disposal, and working capital implications.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, national, and international legislation and regulations.
- Maintain adherence to internal procurement policies and due diligence requirements to support relevant accreditations and standards, including ISO and BRC.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with suppliers across a diverse range of product categories to achieve the best commercial outcomes for Innovia.
- Ensure goods and services are sourced from approved suppliers, meeting required quality standards, quantities, delivery locations, and cost expectations.
- Manage the end-to-end purchase order process, ensuring acknowledgements are received, pricing and delivery details are verified, discrepancies are resolved, and system records are kept up to date.
- Contribute to the preparation of monthly procurement reports, ensuring key opportunities, risks, and challenges are clearly communicated.
What We're looking for
A highly organised and driven individual who can build strong relationships, negotiate effectively with suppliers and stakeholders, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. You'll have excellent communication and numerical skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Ideally, you'll be CIPS qualified (or willing to work towards this qualification), have strong Microsoft Excel skills, and be confident working to challenging deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality. Experience with SAP would be advantageous. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above are required. skills will you need?
