Plant Operator – Civils, Windfarm Access & Rural Infrastructure
D Horne Services Ltd is seeking an experienced Plant Operator to join our team based in Pinmore, South Ayrshire. The role involves operating a range of modern plant across civils, forestry, utilities and rural infrastructure projects throughout South‑West Scotland, the Central Belt and Dumfries & Galloway, including windfarm access and maintenance works.
We are looking for reliable, skilled operators who take pride in their work, operate safely, and work well within a small team across varied and remote environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate excavators, wheeled excavators, dumpers, rollers, tractors and attachments
- Support windfarm access road upkeep and maintenance works
- Assist with drainage installation (deep and shallow)
- Carry out reinstatement, light civils support and general site duties
- Complete daily plant checks and basic maintenance
- Work safely and professionally on remote and rural sites
- Assist with forestry road works and rural infrastructure tasks when required
Requirements
- Proven experience operating plant in civils, forestry or rural infrastructure
- Competent with excavators, dumpers, rollers, tractors or wheeled diggers
- NPORS or CPCS certification (preferred)
- Full UK driving licence
- Two recent work references
- Strong teamwork, communication and reliability
- Ability to work in varied weather conditions and remote locations
- A safety‑focused approach and pride in workmanship
