Sales & Marketing – New Business
Responsible to
Sales and Marketing Director/Business Development Manager
Company Overview
Ibcos is a market-leading provider of dealer business management software to the agricultural, groundcare and construction equipment sectors. Our Gold platform gives dealers a single system to run every part of their business — sales, parts, workshop, rental, accounts and reporting — and is trusted by hundreds of dealers across the UK and Ireland.
Catalyst is a sister Dealer UK Group brand, providing dealer management software to dealership businesses in its own set of verticals. Together, Ibcos and Catalyst cover a broad range of dealership sectors, and this role prospects across both.
Ibcos is part of the Dealer UK Group and Constellation Software Inc. We are investing in cloud, analytics and connected services to help our customers run more profitable, efficient dealerships, and we are building a sales and marketing team to match that ambition.
Job Overview
The Business Development Representative is a shared, product-neutral outbound role across Catalyst and Ibcos. Working the whole dealer market, the BDR prospects, qualifies and books meetings — discovering where each dealer is in its system-review cycle and routing the opportunity to the right Dealer UK Group product on fit, then handing a qualified meeting to the closer.
The role exists to free our closers from generating their own pipeline, so they can focus on strategic deals and business cases. It is a top-of-funnel role: it creates and qualifies pipeline into both order books but does not close deals, own accounts or carry a revenue quota. Success is measured on qualified pipeline created, on identical terms whichever product a lead is routed to.
This is a home-based role with occasional travel to industry trade shows and events, and to our Poole office.
Key Responsibilities
- Outbound prospecting: proactively work the dealer market — calls, email sequences and event follow-up — from a single, brand-agnostic target list
- Discovery & qualification: establish each dealer's current system, contract/renewal timing, pain points and requirements, and identify the review window
- Product-neutral routing: match each qualified opportunity to the right product — Ibcos Gold or Catalyst — against agreed fit criteria, never force-fitting to hit a number
- Meeting hand-off: book qualified meetings for the relevant Ibcos or Catalyst New Business Manager and hand over cleanly with full context
- Nurture: keep not-yet-ready dealers on an active cadence so we're first in when a review window opens
- CRM discipline: accurately log all activity, discovery notes and renewal dates — the discovery data is a core asset for both businesses
- Pipeline reporting: report activity, qualified opportunities and pipeline created, split by destination product
- Represent Ibcos and Catalyst professionally at industry trade shows and events
Qualifications Required
Essential – Educated to GCSE / A-level standard or equivalent, or equivalent sales experience; confident telephone manner and strong written communication
Desirable – Sales, telemarketing or business-development training; a degree in Business, Marketing or a related field
Experience Required
Essential –
- Proven experience in an outbound sales, BDR/SDR, business development or lead-generation role
- Demonstrable experience building and managing target prospect lists
- Experience running cold calling campaigns
- Experience running email outreach or marketing campaigns
- A track record of prospecting, qualifying and booking meetings against activity targets
- Proven track record of success, with repeatable systems and processes that consistently deliver results
- Strong, consultative discovery skills — asking good questions and listening rather than pitching
- Disciplined use of a CRM to manage activity and pipeline
Desirable –
- Experience using Salesforce CRM system
- Experience of, or knowledge of, the dealership sector (e.g. agricultural, groundcare, construction or automotive dealerships)
- Experience of a multi-product or multi-brand environment where leads are routed to different teams
- Familiarity with dealer management software or comparable business software
- Familiarity with a recognised sales methodology (e.g. SPIN or Meddic)
Suitable for someone who…
- Is highly target-driven, self-motivated and resilient — energised by outbound activity, undeterred by a 'no', and hungry to over-achieve
- Is genuinely curious and consultative — listens for the review window rather than pushing a pitch
- Is group-first and product-neutral — motivated by the routed opportunity, not loyal to one brand
- Is a confident, articulate communicator on the phone and in writing
- Is organised and CRM-disciplined, and treats the discovery data as the asset it is
- Thrives on cadence, coaching and feedback, and wants to build a career in sales
- Is comfortable working autonomously in a home-based role, with occasional travel to shows, events and the Poole office
