About the Role We are looking for a versatile and reliable Part-Time Chef / Kitchen Porter to join our premium cocktail, wine, and charcuterie bar team. This is a unique, hybrid role perfect for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment and is comfortable splitting their time between food preparation and maintaining impeccable back-of-house hygiene.
You will be a key player during our peak weekend trading hours, ensuring the kitchen engine runs smoothly, food specs are met, and service flows effortlessly.
Key Responsibilities Kitchen & Food Preparation (Chef Duties): * Prepare and assemble our premium food menu, including high-end charcuterie and cheese boards, to exact specifications and visual standards.
- Manage food prep levels efficiently to minimize waste, particularly during transition periods into evening service.
- Ensure strict rotation of ingredients (FIFO) and monitor portion controls.
Hygiene & Operational Support (Kitchen Porter Duties): * Maintain immaculate standards of cleanliness, sanitization, and organization across all food prep, wash-up, and BOH areas.
- Wash and store all kitchen utensils, crockery, glassware, and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Manage food waste, recycling, and daily kitchen bins in line with venue procedures.
- Assist with receiving, checking, and safely storing food deliveries, ensuring temperature records are logged accurately.
- Adhere strictly to all licensing, health & safety, COSHH, and food hygiene (HACCP) standards.
What We’re Looking For * Previous experience working in a professional kitchen or food-prep environment (essential).
- A strong work ethic with the ability to work quickly, cleanly, and independently under pressure.
- Basic knife skills and an eye for detail regarding premium food presentation.
- Excellent understanding of food hygiene practices (Level 2 Food Safety certificate is preferred, but training can be provided).
- High stamina and physical fitness to handle the fast-paced nature of weekend shifts.
- Total flexibility to work weekend hours, including late afternoons and nights.
