We are seeking a full/part time dedicated Screener to join our team of practices. The Screener will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of patients by conducting diabetic screenings.
The responsibilities of the screener include:
- explaining the test procedure to the people with diabetes and obtaining consent
- undertaking visual acuity checks
- instilling eye drops
- taking digital images
You will also be responsible for assessing retinal images and identifying the presence and severity of diabetic eye disease (diabetic retinopathy). This is a specialised role, using dedicated software to examine the photographic image in detail. This will require high levels of concentration and review, and extended periods of time using display screen equipment.
