Location: Forest Gate, Newham
Pay: £95–£105 per day PAYE
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am–4:00pm
Start Date: September 2026 – immediately following a successful trial

Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs?
We are working with a welcoming and inclusive mainstream primary school in Forest Gate, Newham, who are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join their established SEN team for the 2026/27 academic year.
The school supports a number of pupils with additional needs across different year groups, with a dedicated team of SEN Teaching Assistants working alongside teachers and the school's SEN team to provide targeted support.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant who enjoys working with children of different ages and needs, and who wants to develop their experience within a supportive and well-established SEN provision.
The school are offering trial days during the first week of September, giving you the opportunity to experience the school, meet the SEN team and pupils, and demonstrate your skills before securing the full-time position.
Following a successful trial, you will be offered the opportunity to start immediately in September and remain in the role for the full 2026/27 academic year.
The Role
- Working as part of an established team of SEN Teaching Assistants
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEN needs
- Supporting children across different year groups throughout the primary school
- Helping pupils access the curriculum and participate fully in school life
- Delivering targeted interventions and activities based on individual pupil needs
- Supporting children's communication, social and emotional development
- Working closely with class teachers, the SEN team and other school staff
- Supporting positive behaviour and encouraging independence
- Building strong, positive relationships with pupils
- Contributing to a nurturing, inclusive and engaging school environment
The Ideal Candidate Will
- Have experience working with children in a school or educational setting
- Have experience supporting children with SEN or additional needs
- Be confident providing both 1:1 and small-group support
- Be adaptable and comfortable working with pupils across different ages and abilities
- Be patient, proactive and able to build positive relationships with children
- Have a genuine passion for supporting children to overcome barriers to learning
- Be able to work effectively as part of a wider SEN team
- Bring energy, enthusiasm and professionalism to the classroom
- Be available full-time from September 2026 for the full academic year
- Be available to attend a trial day during the first week of September
This role would be particularly well suited to experienced SEN Teaching Assistants, graduates and aspiring teachers, as well as anyone considering a future career in education, educational psychology, speech and language therapy or other child-focused professions.
