We currently have a post for Kitchen Assistant - 30 hours per week
Experience is preferred but not essential. Comprehensive induction training is provided. Practical support given to people new to the environment who are willing to change their career for a new rewarding job.

DAY TO DAY ROLE:
Can you work methodically interacting with the residents to maintain a clean and happy atmosphere in the dining areas that they are accustomed to?
The key responsibilities of our Kitchen Assistants include:
- The Kitchen Assistant role involves undertaking duties aimed at providing a clean, tidy and hygienic kitchen environment.
- Understand the principles of safe food handling to ensure all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene.
- To ensure the regular cleaning of all kitchen areas, equipment and appliances to meet the high standards of cleanliness necessary in food storage, preparation and service areas.
- Prepare some foods for residents and help with the catering for special occasions.
- Understand personal responsibilities in relation to the Health & Safety at Work Acts and fire safety and evacuation procedures and demonstrate a working knowledge of COSHH assessments applicable in own work area.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with all residents, family, visitors and colleagues.

We are looking for Kitchen Assistants who will be part of a busy team working along side the Head Chef or 2nd Chef. Your daily duties will be to maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen at all times according to the Health and Safety policy.
You will be required to prepare some meals and help in the preparation of food for the residents. You will be required to wash and clean up after each service, this will include but is not limited to dishes, cutlery, food trolleys, pots and pans etc.
You will be required to will also be required to cover holidays & sickness for the other Kitchen Assistants.
You will have daily interaction with residents, visitors and colleagues; therefore we are looking for someone who is friendly, approachable and passionate as well as maintaining a hygienic and professional appearance. Experience of catering within a similar environment is desirable but not essential.
