Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and reliable Traffic Banksman to assist in managing vehicle movements at a recycling plant . The ideal candidate will ensure the safe and efficient flow of traffic, coordinate with drivers and weighbridge personnel, and uphold health and safety standards. This role is essential for maintaining a secure working environment and facilitating smooth operations during delivery and colection activities.
Responsibilities
- Direct vehicle movements on-site using clear hand signals or radio communication
- Assist lorry drivers in reversing safely into designated areas
- Ensure all vehicles adhere to site safety protocols and speed limits
- Communicate effectively with weighbridge, drivers, and other personnel to coordinate traffic flow
- Maintain awareness of surroundings to identify potential hazards or unsafe practices
- Assist with general site safety procedures as required
- Record vehicle movements and report any incidents or irregularities to supervisors
Skills
- Prior experience in traffic management is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with drivers and site staff
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure safety standards are met consistently
- Ability to remain alert and focused during long periods of duty in potentially challenging environments
