The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Surveyor / Land Rights Surveyor to support major utility and infrastructure projects across London and the South West, with a strong focus on agricultural and rural land. This role combines technical land rights expertise with hands-on stakeholder engagement, working closely with landowners, farmers, and local stakeholders to secure access and deliver fair, practical outcomes on the ground.
- Secure land rights including wayleaves, easements, temporary possession and land acquisitions
- Negotiate compensation claims fairly, with a strong understanding of agricultural impact and reinstatement requirements
- Provide expert land and property advice to support utility and infrastructure project delivery
- Work closely with design and delivery teams to ensure proposals align with consenting and land access requirements
- Build and maintain strong relationships with landowners, farmers, agents, and stakeholders
- Manage communication and expectations, resolving land access issues proactively
- Maintain accurate records, reporting, and client updates to ensure KPIs are met
- Support project teams on-site and contribute to collaborative delivery across multiple projects
Essential
- RICS qualified, newly qualified, or qualified by experience
- Strong agricultural and rural land knowledge
- Experience negotiating compensation claims and understanding reinstatement obligations
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
- Strong understanding of infrastructure or construction environments
Desirable
- Experience with wayleaves, easements, land acquisition, CPOs, and environmental consents
- Background in utilities, infrastructure, or energy projects
- Experience working directly with landowners, farmers, and rural communities
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior surveyors
- Strong understanding of legal frameworks relating to land access and property rights
