Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician looking to develop your career within a specialist Aseptic Services Unit?
This is an excellent opportunity to join our skilled and supportive Pharmacy team. You will help supervise the daily work of the cleanroom and support the preparation of chemotherapy and other specialist medicines for patients receiving treatment at The London Clinic.
Your technical knowledge, leadership and attention to detail will help ensure every product is prepared safely, accurately and on time.
A little about the role
As a Senior Pharmacy Technician, you will help lead the daily work of our Aseptic Services Unit. You will support colleagues in the cleanroom, prepare and check aseptic medicines and help the team provide a safe and reliable service.
Although you may not work directly with patients every day, the care and accuracy you bring to your role will help ensure they receive their treatment safely and without unnecessary delay. You will work closely with pharmacists, technicians and Pharmacy Assistants, sharing your knowledge and helping colleagues develop their confidence.
You must hold a Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 qualification and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
What you’ll be doing
- Supervise cleanroom activity to help the team work safely and meet patient treatment times
- Prepare chemotherapy and other specialist medicines to ensure patients receive accurate and timely treatment
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practice and Pharmacy procedures to maintain high standards of quality and safety
- Complete checks and release prepared products when authorised to help prevent errors
- Support clinical trials work to ensure investigational medicines are prepared and recorded correctly
- Monitor the cleanroom and equipment to maintain a safe and controlled environment
- Report results that fall outside agreed standards so concerns can be investigated promptly
- Manage stock and expiry dates to keep medicines available and reduce waste
- Work with colleagues and suppliers to maintain a reliable supply of medicines and equipment
- Support audits and improvement projects to strengthen the Aseptic Services Unit
- Take part in out of hours, weekend and bank holiday services to support patient treatment when required
What we’re looking for
- A Science Manufacturing Technician Level 3 qualification
- Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
- Experience working within an Aseptic Services Unit
- Experience preparing chemotherapy or other aseptic medicines
- Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
- The ability to supervise and support colleagues
- The confidence to prioritise work in a busy environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- A strong commitment to quality and patient safety
