Jasper Education and Support Services Limited (Jess Care) offer long term therapeutic residential provisions to children and young people aged 11-18 years. The role of a night waking officer is to support children and young people who have challenging and complex needs using a therapeutic approach.
Jess Care’s provisions are registered and regulated by Ofsted and operate within the legal framework of The Children's Homes Regulations 2015.
The role is subject to satisfactory safer recruitment checks including an enhanced DBS and references and conditional upon satisfactory completion of a 6-month probationary period.

The Role:
You will be responsible for the care of the children and young people during the twilight hours; this will include assisting with safeguarding and promoting the welfare needs of children and young people ensuring good sleep hygiene. Observing and recording both written and verbal, on the behaviour and care needs of the young people during the night. Working with other agencies to safeguard children, for example reporting children missing to the police and working with the local authority emergency duty team. in addition, part of the role is ensuring the home environment is kept to a high standard.
The children and young people can display complex social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and associated challenging behaviours, and need guidance to develop their independence skills and the ability to integrate into society after leaving care.
We would like to offer you the opportunity to join our team of dedicated and enthusiastic staff. We are currently looking for full time, part time and part time weekend staff who are both caring and nurturing.
Job Types:
The position is offered full time of 40 hours per week, which equates to 160 hours over a 4-week rota.
Part time will include every other weekend and a minimum of 108 hours over a 4-week rota and part time weekends will be a minimum of 72 hours over a 4-week rota.
Weekends include Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All shifts start at 21:00 hours and finish at 9am. Full and part-time roles work one weekend on and one weekend off.

- Providing therapeutic support to children and young people in all aspects of their daily lives within a homely environment.
- Providing encouragement to all children and young people to work towards achieving their goals.
- Provide security and safety for our children and young people.
- Build trusting and lasting relationships.
- Working closely with the management team and outside agencies to ensure the children and young people receive the best possible care and support.
- You will also be expected to undertake some laundry duties, domestic tasks and contribute to the general running of the home. You will be expected to undertake a range of training and development this will usually be in the daytime.
