Principle Joinery Ltd is a growing, quality‑driven joinery manufacturer specialising in bespoke doors, windows, shopfronts, cabinetry, and one‑off custom pieces for builders, developers, and private clients. As we continue to expand our workshop operations, we’re looking for a hands‑on, organised, and experienced Workshop Foreman/Manager to lead our team and ensure the smooth, efficient delivery of high‑quality joinery.
About the Role
This position is offered on a self‑employed basis, working closely with our team to manage day‑to‑day workshop operations. You will oversee workflow, support the joinery team, and maintain the high standards our customers expect. The role suits someone with strong joinery knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to keep a busy workshop running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily workshop operations, ensuring jobs progress on schedule
- Allocate tasks and manage workflow for bench joiners and apprentices
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and cutting lists accurately
- Maintain quality control at every stage of manufacture
- Provide technical guidance and problem‑solve fabrication challenges
- Ensure machinery, tools, and materials are used safely and correctly
- Monitor stock levels and liaise with the office for material ordering
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment
- Support training and development of junior team members
- Communicate with project managers and site teams regarding progress and delivery schedules
What We’re Looking For
- Strong background in joinery manufacturing (bench joinery or workshop management)
- Proven experience leading or supervising a workshop team
- Excellent understanding of joinery construction methods and materials
- Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage multiple jobs at once
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Confident communicator who can work well with both workshop and office staff
- Proactive, reliable, and able to maintain a positive team culture
- Comfortable working on a self‑employed basis with responsibility for own tax and insurance
