Job Description: Baby Room Leader (Level 3)
Elizabeth Saunders Nursery, Penwortham
40 hours per week
Pay: From £14 per hour
We are looking for an experienced and confident Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to lead our Baby Room team at Elizabeth Saunders Nursery.
We are a small, family-run nursery where staff are known personally, supported by their managers and given real ownership over their room. This is a hands-on, room-based leadership role caring for children aged from birth to two years.
You will lead a small team while remaining hands-on yourself, building secure relationships, guiding routines, and creating engaging experiences that help our youngest children feel happy, safe and confident. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with babies and has the experience and confidence to take responsibility for how the room runs day to day.
The role
You will:
- Lead the day to day running of the Baby Room, keeping it calm, safe and well organised
- Provide warm, attentive and nurturing care for babies aged 0 to 2, alongside your team
- Oversee feeding, sleeping, changing and daily care routines across the room
- Plan and oversee meaningful, age-appropriate activities based on children's interests and development
- Ensure observations, assessments and learning records are completed to a high standard across the room
- Build positive relationships with parents and keep them informed about their child's day
- Support, guide and mentor other members of the Baby Room team
- Act as the main point of contact for the room, working closely with the nursery manager
- Follow and uphold the EYFS, safeguarding procedures and nursery policies within the room
About you
You will need:
- A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
- Experience working in a baby room, ideally with some experience leading, mentoring or taking responsibility within a room
- A genuine passion for working with babies and young children
- A strong understanding of the EYFS and safeguarding
- A caring, patient and dependable approach, with the confidence to guide and support others
- An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one
What we offer
- A supportive, family-run nursery where your contribution is noticed and valued
- Friendly, approachable managers who work closely with the team
- Contracted hours to be agreed between 40 hours per week
- Ongoing training and professional development
- Opportunities to develop within our nursery group
- Employee referral bonus scheme
We are looking for someone ready to take the lead in our Baby Room and build lasting relationships with the children, families and staff around them.
