Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Environmental Compliance Officer to oversee and ensure adherence to environmental regulations and standards within our organisation. Duties
- Monitor and evaluate organisational activities to ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation and policies.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and operational procedures.
- Prepare detailed reports on compliance status, incidents, and corrective actions required or undertaken.
- Lead investigations into environmental incidents or non-compliance issues, performing root cause analysis to identify underlying problems.
- Develop, implement, and update environmental management programmes and procedures.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on environmental policies, safety protocols, and best practices.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections or audits, ensuring transparent communication.
- Assist in the preparation of environmental impact assessments and sustainability reports.
- Support organisation-wide initiatives aimed at reducing environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, training sessions, and corrective actions.
Skills
- Proven ability in report writing with clear documentation of findings and recommendations.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation, standards, and best practices relevant to the organisation’s operations.
- Experience in root cause analysis to effectively address underlying issues related to non-compliance or incidents.
- First aid certification is desirable to respond appropriately during emergencies involving environmental hazards or accidents.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently under tight deadlines.
- Effective communication skills for liaising with regulatory bodies, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail for conducting thorough investigations and assessments.
