Rice and Sail Ltd is an independent, harbour-side restaurant located in Weymouth, Dorset,
specialising in authentic Southeast Asian cuisine with a focus on Vietnamese and Thai dishes.
The restaurant combines high-quality food with a welcoming waterfront setting, attracting
both local residents and visitors. Since its incorporation in July 2025, the business has
experienced encouraging early traction and is now focused on strengthening its brand
presence, expanding customer reach, and establishing sustainable revenue growth.
Role Overview
The Marketing and Sales Executive will be responsible for developing and executing strategies
that enhance brand visibility, attract new customers, and drive revenue growth across both
dine-in and future online channels. The role requires a commercially aware and creative
individual who can balance strategic planning with hands-on delivery in a fast-paced
hospitality environment. The position will play a key role in supporting the restaurant’s
transition from early-stage growth to a more structured and sustainable commercial model.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing & Brand Development
- Plan and execute marketing strategies to increase brand awareness and strengthen
market positioning within Weymouth and surrounding areas.
- Manage and develop the restaurant’s digital presence, including social media
platforms, website content, and online listings, ensuring consistent and high-quality
brand representation.
- Drive customer engagement and interaction across all digital platforms through
strategic content planning and community management.
- Create engaging content (visual and written) to promote menu offerings, seasonal
specials, and events.
- Ensure brand consistency across all customer touchpoints, including in-store materials,
digital platforms, and external communications.
Oversee and strengthen the restaurant’s presence on third – party food delivery platforms, ensuring menus, pricing, imagery, and descriptions are accurate, competitive, and aligned with the Rice & Sail brand.
Monitor brand perception through customer feedback, reviews, and online engagement, implementing improvements where necessary.
Research, plan, and implement seasonal occasional promotional campaigns across delivery platforms and other relevant channels to increase visibility, drive online orders, and support revenue growth.
Collaborate with management to develop and deliver in-house promotions, seasonal offers, and special events aligned with the market demand and operational capacity.
Sales & Revenue Growth
Identify and develop business opportunities to increase revenue, including group bookings, private dining, local partnerships, and event-based sales.
Build and maintain relationships with local hotels, businesses, tour operators, and community organisations to drive referrals and repeat business.
Support the development of pricing strategies, promotional offers, and bundled packages to maximise sales while maintaining profitability.
Assist in forecasting demand and contributing to sales planning based on seasonal trends and customer behaviour.
Represent the restaurant professionally at networking events, community engagements, and industry functions to enhance brand reputation and visibility.
Promotions & Campaign Management
Plan and implement promotional campaigns aligned with seasonal trends, local events, and trading patterns.
Research and run targeted promotions during quieter periods to stimulate demand and improve customer retention.
Evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and promotional activities, using data and feedback to refine future campaigns.
Online & Delivery Channel Development
Support the launch and ongoing management of the restaurant’s presence on third-party delivery platforms.
Ensure menus, pricing, imagery, and descriptions are optimised for online performance and aligned with brand standards.
Plan and implement platform-specific promotions to increase visibility, attract new customers, and drive order volume.
Monitor performance metrics such as order frequency, customer ratings, and promotional outcomes, making recommendations for improvement.
Market Research & Analysis
Conduct regular market research to understand local competition, pricing trends, and customer preferences.
Analyse sales data, customer behaviour, and campaign performance to inform strategic decisions.
Provide regular reports and insights to management, highlighting opportunities for growth and areas for improvement.
Reporting & Collaboration
Work closely with the leadership team to ensure business development strategies align with overall commercial objectives.
Collaborate with kitchen, front-of-house, and operations teams to ensure all initiatives are practical, deliverable, and consistent with service standards.
Prepare business proposals, partnership agreements, and performance reports, including customer growth metrics, sales tracking outcomes, and return on investment analysis.
Provide regular performance updates and strategic recommendations to senior management to support continuous improvement and sustainable growth.
Assist in planning and delivering special events, promotional campaigns, and marketing collaterals designed to drive measurable engagement and revenue impact.
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Proven experience in marketing, sales, or a similar commercial role, preferably within hospitality, food and beverage, or service industries.
Strong understanding of digital marketing, including social media management and content creation.
Commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities and contribute to revenue growth.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organisational and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with social media tools, booking systems, or delivery platforms is advantageous.
Minimum English language proficiency at B2 level (CEFR).
