Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.
Your Impact:
Do you want to play a key role in delivering advanced defensive systems across multiple airborne platforms, such as A400M and NMH? As a Project Manager within the Integrated Defensive Aids System (IDAS) team, you will support the delivery of critical capability across various programmes.
Based in Luton, you will work within a collaborative, cross-functional environment — supporting performance, coordinating delivery activities, and helping bring new IDAS solutions into service to ensure the operational effectiveness of the war fighter.
What you will do as Project Manager – IDAS:
Support the IDAS Programme Manager and senior team members in delivering project activities across various Integrated Project Teams (IPTs), ensuring effective coordination across engineering, business functions, and customer stakeholders.
-
Take ownership of defined work packages, ensuring delivery to agreed scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
-
Track and report project performance, supporting schedule management, risk and opportunity tracking, and milestone delivery.
-
Act as a key interface for stakeholders, helping coordinate responses to customer queries and ensuring clear communication across the programme.
-
Apply project management best practices, including financial tracking, risk management, governance, and reporting.
-
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance delivery efficiency, programme resilience, and customer satisfaction.
-
Maintain and develop project documentation, plans, and controls to support effective programme execution.
What you’ll bring:
To succeed in this role, you will bring a structured and proactive approach, strong collaboration skills, and a desire to develop within complex defence programmes.
Essential skills and experience include:
-
Experience in a project management or project support role within engineering, aerospace, defence, or similarly complex environments.
-
Ability to manage defined tasks or work packages while supporting wider project delivery.
-
Experience working within cross-functional teams and coordinating across multiple stakeholders.
-
Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
-
Good communication skills, with confidence engaging both internal teams and external stakeholders.
-
Awareness of project management disciplines (e.g. risk, cost, schedule, governance); formal PM qualifications (e.g. APM, PRINCE2) are desirable but not essential.
-
Knowledge of Defensive Aids Systems, is advantageous but not required.
This is not an exhaustive list. We welcome candidates who are motivated to learn, take ownership, and grow their careers within a supportive and dynamic project environment.
