CalMac Ferries is seeking a proactive and organised Logistics Assistant to join our team at Faulds Park, Gourock on a 12-month temporary contract. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in supporting Scotland's lifeline ferry network by ensuring critical vessel spares, equipment and technical consumables are available when and where they are needed.
While the role is primarily based at Faulds Park, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to travel throughout the CalMac Ferries network and visit shipyards as required, supporting vessel maintenance programmes, vessel overhauls and operational requirements.

About the Role
As a Logistics Assistant, you will support the efficient management, storage and distribution of fleet spares, equipment and technical materials that are essential to keeping our vessels operating safely and reliably.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in coordinating and prioritising logistics requirements relating to fleet spares and equipment.
- Receiving, storing and issuing technical parts, consumables and operational equipment.
- Maintaining accurate stock records and ensuring all items are correctly identified, located and tracked.
- Operating computerised stock control systems and supporting inventory management activities.
- Assisting with stocktaking programmes and ensuring compliance with company inventory procedures.
- Supporting the sourcing and procurement of spare parts and materials for vessel maintenance, breakdowns and overhaul activities.
- Coordinating the dispatch and return of equipment and components for repair.
- Operating a forklift and other warehouse equipment where required.
- Maintaining records relating to maintenance schedules for plant, machinery and spare units.
- Ensuring company vehicles are maintained, serviced and operated in accordance with company procedures.
- Supporting logistics activity across the CalMac network, including travel to ports, vessels and shipyards as required.
- Promoting safe working practices and ensuring compliance with all health and safety procedures.
- Participating in the on-call rota and supporting operational requirements as required.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties as requested by the Logistics Operations Supervisor.
What We're Looking For
Essential Criteria
- A minimum of 5 years' experience working in a logistics, warehouse or stores environment.
- Experience working within a fast-paced warehouse or high-racking facility.
- A full current driving licence.
- Previous experience and knowledge of spare parts, inventory control and stock management.
Experience within a technical, engineering, maritime or transport environment would be desirable
