The Role
We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Engineering team. You will be responsible for producing new electrical designs, modifying existing systems, and creating accurate technical drawings and schematics for our specialist aviation refuelling equipment.
Working closely with Production, Purchasing and Sales, you will help deliver high-quality engineering solutions from concept through to manufacture, testing and commissioning.
This role is primarily focused on electrical design but also offers exposure to mechanical design, providing excellent opportunities for career development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design electrical systems for specialist vehicles and equipment.
- Produce accurate electrical drawings and schematics using AutoCAD.
- Modify and improve existing designs to meet customer and production requirements.
- Interpret customer specifications and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Support prototype builds, testing, commissioning and quality assurance activities.
- Liaise with Production, Purchasing and Sales throughout project delivery.
- Contribute to continuous product improvement and new product development.
- Lead and support a small team of electricians when required.
- Assist with PLC programming and control system development (training provided).
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving engineering problems and wants to develop their technical skills within a growing business.
You may be an experienced Electrical Design Engineer or an ambitious graduate/junior engineer looking to build your career.
Essential
- Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience using AutoCAD (2D or 3D).
- Ability to produce accurate engineering drawings and documentation.
- Strong communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
- Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software.
- Knowledge of electrical system design.
- Experience of pneumatic system design.
- Understanding of PLC programming or industrial control systems.
- Experience within vehicle, automotive, aerospace or special-purpose machinery design.
