Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring they are maintained to a very high standard. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, applying a range of skills related to landscaping, horticulture, and general grounds upkeep. Prior experience in landscape maintenance or construction is advantageous, but training will be provided for the right candidate. A keen eye for detail and a proactive, hardworking attitude are essential to succeed in this position.
Duties
- Perform routine landscape maintenance including grass cutting and lawn maintenance, strimming and edging, hedge cutting and pruning, weed control, leaf clearance, litter picking and general site maintenance and upkeep.
- Operate power tools such as strimmers, blowers, and lawnmowers safely and effectively. Use of Ride on machinery and scags advantageous.
- Utilise hand tools for planting, weeding, and general grounds care
- Conduct basic repairs and maintenance on equipment and tools
- Assist with construction activities related to outdoor projects
- Ensure all grounds are kept clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing
- Monitor the health of plants and utilise horticultural knowledge to promote growth and vitality
- Supporting the team leader in delivering tasks and maintaining high standards.
- Follow safety protocols at all times during operations
Skills
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Spraying Certification (advantageous)
- Towing Trailers (advantageous)
- Experience of Ride on and Scag Machinary
- Chainsaw Ticket (advantageous)
- Good Team player.
- Experience in landscape maintenance, gardening or horticulture is highly desirable
- Mechanical knowledge related to power tools advantageous.
- Proficiency with hand tools and all mowers used in gardening and groundskeeping tasks
- Ability to perform maintenance tasks on various types of equipment and machinery
- Strong understanding of construction principles relevant to outdoor environments
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Physical fitness to undertake manual labour including lifting, digging, and operating machinery over extended periods
- Attention to detail with an eye for colour, aesthetics, and safety standards
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in varying outdoor conditions
