Early Years Practitioner
This particular role is approximately 10 hours per week, providing 1:1 support to a 5-year-old Reception-age learner in the Deal area, 2hrs each day times tbc. Sessions will take place in the learner’s home.
We are looking for an engaging Early Years Tutor/Mentor, Early Years Practitioner, Nursery Nurse or experienced Early Years Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting a young child with additional needs.
The learner responds well to play-based and imaginative activities, including dressing up, role play and acting out characters. The successful candidate will use these interests to build engagement and create enjoyable, meaningful learning opportunities through play.
Support should be child-led, calm and flexible, with learning introduced naturally through activities appropriate to the Early Years Foundation Stage. The role will also involve helping the learner develop confidence, engagement and emotional understanding within a consistent 1:1 relationship.
As part of the Active Outreach Services Tutor Network, candidates may also be offered opportunities to express interest in additional learners and gradually build a regular weekly timetable.
Sessions across Active Outreach Services are typically delivered between 9:00am and 5:00pm, in learners’ homes, local libraries, community settings or online.
We would particularly like to hear from candidates with:
- Experience working within EYFS / Early Years
- Experience supporting children with SEND, autism and/or social and emotional needs
- A playful, creative approach to learning
- Confidence using role play, imaginative play and child-led activities
- The ability to build a warm but professional 1:1 relationship
- A calm, patient and adaptable approach
- Experience as an Early Years Practitioner, Nursery Nurse, EYFS Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Tutor or Mento
You will need:
- Experience in the Early Years
- Experience supporting SEND and/or SEMH learners (preferred)
- Must be comfortable delivering tuition online and face to face
- Access to a laptop or computer
- Access to a smartphone
- Reliable internet access
- Ability to complete online reports and administrative tasks
- Ability to travel to learner locations where required
- Enhanced DBS/Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to work in the UK
Pay: £18.00 per hour
