We are looking for an experienced, compassionate and motivated Senior Care Assistant to join our friendly care home team in Cardiff.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering outstanding person-centred care and is ready to take on a leadership role within a supportive environment.
The successful candidate must be flexible to work days, evenings and night shifts, and participate in the on-call rota as required.
Key Responsibilities
As a Senior Care Assistant, you will:
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day running of the shift, ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
- Supervise, support and mentor Care Assistants throughout each shift.
- Administer, record and manage medication safely in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure residents receive safe, dignified and person-centred care at all times.
- Complete and update care records, daily notes and incident reports accurately.
- Liaise effectively with healthcare professionals, residents' families and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and safeguard the wellbeing of all residents.
- Support new staff through induction, supervision and ongoing guidance.
- Ensure all policies, procedures and regulatory standards are adhered to.
- Participate in the on-call rota and provide support outside normal working hours when required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Level 3 QCF/NVQ Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) – essential.
- Previous experience working as a Senior Care Assistant or in a similar leadership role within a care home.
- Medication administration competency.
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
- A caring, compassionate and professional approach.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility to work a rota covering days, evenings, nights and on-call duties.
